Every pantry needs a top notch drinking chocolate nestled next to the house coffee beans. It's just fact. Grounded Pleasures Original drinking chocolate is a dream to have on hand for afternoon lulls, guests who don't do coffee, or moments you want something rich and warm and your coffee has already done its job for the day.
This is the original; it's dark, and it actually tastes like it. Good cocoa beans, mostly Forastero, with a bit of Trinitario mixed through, and you can tell. Rich, a little fruity (dried cherry, plum, that kind of thing), and it goes thick and properly velvety the second hot milk hits it. Not the thin, too-sweet stuff that tastes like dust with sugar on top. Ew.
We love a slow steep in milk on the stovetop, but a freshly steamed jug works perfectly too. We even stir a spoonful into our morning coffee from time to time for a mocha worth drinking. Either way, it's properly good hot chocolate.
